Directions: Write a four-page argument/persuasive essay about a controversial and current social, environment, or political issue.
These topics range from immigration, pandemic, minimum wage, living wage, poverty, child hunger, health care, mental health care, prisoners rights to vote, privatized prisons, re-imposing assault weapon ban, meat diet, non-meat diet, legislation to prevent hate crimes, free college, loan forgiveness, electoral college, voting rights, legislation to ensure LGBTQ+ rights, fracking, carbon tax, alternative renewable energies, recycling, plastics, electric cars, self-driving cars, petrochemicals, eating and/or wearing organic, regulations on power plants, regulations on any other industry, working conditions, national education standards, lowering or raising voting age, mandatory civil service, higher taxes for wealthy.
You are not limited to these topics, but make sure your topic can be supported by facts. Avoid arguments based on values or religion, such as abortion, kneeling for flag, conspiracy theories, patriotism, etc.
Begin with a thesis statement that clearly states your argument. Make sure your thesis is strong, clearly-stated and debatable.
Must include three research sources. At least two must be periodicals and/or journals accessed from libguide in Electronic Library Resources. Other sources can be accessed through Google Scholar and/or .org or .gov Websites.
MUST include in-text documentation AND Works Cited page.
An essay without a Works Cited page and/or in-text documentation will automatically lose all 40 mechanics points.
A plagiarized essay will be given a 0.
