Overview

In your Paper, you will apply concepts you’ve learned in this class to a movie of your choice. You may choose any movie you want, however I recommend choosing one that you like since you will be watching it again to write this paper.  The most important part about picking a movie is that is has two characters that have a significant relationship and are dependent on each other to accomplish their goals.

Part 1  – Movie Summary

Start your paper by summarizing the plot of the movie, don’t worry about spoiling an ending. This introduction should provide enough information that someone who has not seen the movie will understand the plot and the key characters. Introduce the characters that you will be focusing on and you can identify them by their character’s name or the actor’s name. Summarize the movie by providing the starting point, note key actions that moved the plot in different directions, and then how the plot was concluded. This should be two to three solid paragraphs.

At the end of the overview introduce the five concepts that you have chosen. Briefly describe each concept and highlight the name of the concept in bold.

Part 2  – Presentation of the Five Concepts

Present each of the 5 concepts in this section.  Organize them based on when they occur in the movie. Start with the beginning and work your way to the end.  For each concepts introduce it, define it, and provide a detailed description of interaction in the movie that demonstrated this concept. This should be approximately one to two solid paragraphs.

Part 3  – Advice to Character

Think about when you watch a movie and are frustrated when a character does something that doesn’t benefit them.  Draw on what you’ve learned in class about effective communication and provide specific suggestions to that character on ways that they could have improved their communication.  You may provide advice to more than one character.  This section should be a minimum of one half to one full page.
