Student 1) I believe that minimum mandatory sentences are a proficient strategy for deciding to condemn, it doesn’t take into consideration judges to have a huge fury of choices and attentiveness with regards to condemning, makes a decision about still being able to set a jail term, it disposes of legal tact. The law, not the judge, sets the sentence. (Worrall, 2015). It gives everyone an equal standard no matter how small the crime may be. No matter what the crime is, everyone should have to deal with the consequences.

Student 2) This method has lasted so long because there are people that commit crimes like murder and they should not be given the same sentencing as someone selling narcotics. It isn’t even up to the judge and how nice they may be, the law is set so that you know you receiving the minimum amount of years for your actions. Yes I do think it is efficient because that gives an equal opportunity all across the border for sentencing. Most crimes are not similar but if you fit that category it is a lot easier to fight and persuade for the less sentence than not even knowing where to begin the argument.
