Description
Some countries have a long tradition of bribery for public officials. As a businessperson from the U.S., you might encounter such officials demanding a bribe to get things done either quickly or in your favor. This discussion forum gives you the opportunity to consider your opinion on such practices so you can be prepared if you encounter a situation like this in your future international business career.
For your initial post in the discussion forum, review information from Chapter 3 in the textbook and use your personal judgment to address the following:
- Is it ethical imperialism to prohibit companies headquartered in the United States from engaging in bribery when doing business in countries with such traditions? Explain why or why not.
- Describe a scenario in which you would or would not accept bribery.
Respond to at least two of your peers. Your replies may constructively challenge positions you disagree with or provide additional support for posts you agree with. As always, your replies should be thoughtful and contribute meaningfully to the discussion.
