This assignment is for my public speaking class. The video has to be between 4 and 6 minutes. I just want you to basically make a speech script for me to record myself. The points from the argument come from a book, I can provide you with the email and password to access the book (Understanding Human Communication, 14th Edition).

Here are the points of the speech:

Communicating Selves in Society

Question 1. Demonstrate your knowledge of the relationship between “self-concept” and communication, and your ability to apply this knowledge to an example.

*In your own words, explain “self-concept” as defined in section 3.1 of the text, and name at least two (2) ways in which communication influences and shapes our “self-concept.”

*Then, as a way to illustrate this concept, describe a relationship or event that had a powerful impact on your own “self-concept,” and say what role communication played in creating that impact.

Question 2. Demonstrate your knowledge of the concept of “identity management,” and your ability to apply this knowledge to an example.

*In your own words, explain “identity management” as defined in section 3.3 of the text, and describe at least two (2) primary characteristics of identity management.

*Society (or anything, really, for example, family, community, church, etc.) has a tendency to impose an identity on you that you don’t want to or can’t live up to. We might call these expectations that we never agreed to!Explain one (1) way in which you have (or someone you know has) used “identity management” to intentionally and strategically challenge these expectations. You can talk about something general, or something specific.

Question 3. Demonstrate your knowledge of how cultural values and norms shape communication, and your ability to apply this knowledge to an example.

*Draw from section 4.2 of the text to explain at least two (2) ways in which cultural patterns (for example, individualism, collectivism, power distance, etc.) can influence communication.

*Then, offer an example from your own experience to explain how one (1) of these patterns may have influenced your own communication without you even realizing it.

Question 4. Demonstrate your knowledge of intercultural communication competence, and your ability to apply this knowledge to an example.

*Draw from section 4.4 of the text to explain at least two (2) things it “takes to adapt to culturally diverse ways of communicating.”

*Then, drawing from the text, rate your own intercultural sensitivity and awareness, and explain what steps you can take to keep growing in this regard.
