There is no guiding question for this first essay. The topic is fairly open and of your own choice. I wanted you to choose what you wanted to write about. Like I said in class, my suggestion is that you select one idea from the reading (maybe a definition or a passage that strikes you as problematic, interesting or insightful) and that you set out to discuss it in more detail. Since it is only two pages I suggest that you focus on a narrow idea instead of trying to summarize the whole reading. If after reading you still feel at a loss, feel free to write back and I can help you come up with a couple of ideas.
